Fortuna's Certified Farmers' Market takes place every Tuesday at 10th and Main Streets from May 20 through October. More than a market, this community event is from 3pm until 6pm. See friends, listen to live music, and shop for fresh produce, live plants, jellies, condiments, honey, smoked fish and much more.
Market spokesperson Holly Kreb says the market is excited to have barbecue and other locally prepared foods coming back to the market "You can pick up a fresh salad and a hot dish and get an easy meal for Tuesday nights," says Kreb.
Farmers say to expect plenty of salad greens, landscaping plants and shrubs, vegetable and flower starts, herbs, fresh flowers and strawberries at early markets. All the produce and plants at the Fortuna market are locally grown and nearly all are organically produced. Kreb says the first markets are, "rich in things to put in your own garden," and as the summer continues the range of fruits and vegetables grows to include squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, corn, peppers, potatoes and other favorites.
